In 2013, LSL officially began the “Doing What Counts” program to get firm employees involved in various philanthropic endeavors. Since starting the program we have participated in various activities such as putting together backpacks for underprivileged kids, running 5k’s, cleaning up beaches, collecting non-perishable food and donating blood.
During 2014 we got started with our own version of March Madness which we deemed March CANNEDness. We collected over 3,000 pounds of non-pershible food items and Easter basket items which were donated to local soup kitchens and to Olive Crest.
In May we participated in the iCure Melanoma 5k once again with a large turn-out of employees and family members.
As the summer months rolled in we started to fundraise and collect items for “Backpacks for Success”. A number of employees were able to go and assist in handing out the more than 60 backpacks that we had been able to assemble. The kids were grateful!
Since the blood drive was such a success in the previous year, we teamed up with the American Red Cross to donate blood again on October 24, 2014.
Operation Santa Claus was our organization of choice to the end the year helping families in need. Through the generous gifts of our employees we were able to provide 60+ toys, gifts, and blanket to those in need.
LET’S DO IT AGAIN IN 2015!
“We make a living by what we get. We make a life by what we give.”
― Winston S. Churchill
We kicked off the program by participating in a “Backpacks for Success” event during July and August. Through employee donations of money and time, we were able to donate to 120 completed backpacks, including supplies such as pencils, paper, erasers, and scissors.
On August 24, 2013 we had over 30 employees and family members participate in the iCure Melanoma 5k in Fullerton. This is a cause that is close to many of our employees hearts.
As Halloween approached, we decided to sink our teeth into a blood drive in conjunction with the American Red Cross. We had over 15 donors give at least 1 pint of blood each on October 25, 2013.
To close out the year, we decided to turn our efforts to families in need and partnered with Families Forward in order to Adopt A Family for the holidays. Thanks to our generous employees we were able to adopt close to 10 families for the holidays.
An Unsung American Hero - An LSL Client
LSL has the most wonderful clients and just when we think we know them we learn one is a true “unsung hero”. Living a humble and modest life now, Jack Revelle (now a doctor in industrial engineering) was the operations officer who diffused two nuclear bombs that fell when a B-52 crashed in North Carolina in 1961. It was known as the Goldsboro Broken Arrow incident. For 50 years he could not talk about what he did, not even to his wife. Click here for the full story.
June 9, 2012 – 2012 Business of the Year

LSL was chosen from a group of seven nominees and presented with the award at the Chamber's annual dinner gala event on June 9th. The Temecula Valley office team, led by Sue Matz and Donna Thomas-McNeely, has worked extremely hard over the last several years to promote LSL and the exceptional service we provide and this award shows that it is paying off. This award demonstrates our continued commitment toward our vision of becoming the firm of choice offering assurance, tax and advisory services in the Temecula Valley.
