Firm History

The Year: 1929

It may not have been the most auspicious year to start a new business, but that's the year George Wood opened his small office in Pasadena, California. Wilmer Pyle joined the firm in the 1940's and later became a partner. Through the Depression and war years, it continued to grow by establishing a reputation of excellence, integrity, and professional competence with local municipal governments, corporations, and individuals.

When the firm decided to open an office in Whittier in 1948, Robert Lance was made resident manager. Mr. Wood had to leave the firm due to illness in 1949 and shortly thereafter Mr. Lance and James Schlinger were made partners, with the firm becoming Pyle, Lance & Schlinger. In 1956 Richard Soll became a partner, but it wasn't until 1959 that his name was added to the firm.

In 1962 the firm restructured into two divisions, one in Pasadena under the direction of Mr. Pyle and Mr. Schlinger and one in Whittier under the management of Mr. Lance and Mr. Soll. The divisions went their separate ways in 1971, a year after Fred Lunghard became a partner in the Whittier division.  Since then there have been several partner additions, Brandon Burrows in 1980, Donald Parker in 1982, Michael Chu in 1989, David Hale in 1993, Don Slater in 1998 and Richard Kikuchi in 2000. The firm moved its offices to Brea, California in 1996.

New partners have not changed the philosophy of Lance, Soll & Lunghard, LLP. The goals still remain and will always be; Client Satisfaction, Expertise, and Timeliness. For the future, the firm of Lance, Soll & Lunghard, LLP will continue to expand and refine its expertise in the light of new local, state, and federal legislation, management innovations, and advances in informational technology.
